Hello, my name is Adriana Brayman and I am licensed registered dietitian nutritionist and certified intuitive eating counselor. I have 2 office locations on Main Street in the beautiful historic district of East Greenwich, RI and historic Downtown Westerly RI.. Here is a bio about myself and how I got here:
I graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelors Degree in Dietetics and completed my dietetic internship, specializing in pediatrics, at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, Connecticut . I have extensive clinical pediatric and adult nutrition experience with a specialty in eating disorders. I have been a practicing dietitian since 2003. I was the senior pediatric dietitian and inpatient and outpatient eating disorder dietitian at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, RI. I had the opportunity to work cohesively with many of the Brown University residents and interns and trained them on the importance of nutrition intervention and nutrition related complications related to eating disorder patients. In 2009 I relocated to Fairfield County Connecticut where I furthered my career at Silver Hill Hospital. There I was responsible for leading the eating disorder program at one of the nation’s most prestigious psychiatric hospitals. At Silver Hill I enhanced my knowledge and work experience through treating adults with dual diagnosis such as bulimia nervosa and substance abuse. I was also the primary dietitian at One Source Nutrition. This was a private practice based in Stamford, CT where I worked with clients with nutrition related physical conditions/diseases. I also dedicated my time working with infants from the age of one to three as the early intervention nutritionist in Fairfield County. There I worked with many toddlers who were extreme picky, problem eaters along with developmental delays and/or medical conditions. My family and I moved back to Rhode Island in the summer of 2011 to be close to our family and the ocean! Immediately upon my return I was eager to start my own private practice in my home state and excited to contribute to the community that I grew up in. I have been at my practice since October of 2011. My diverse work experience coupled with my passion to help individuals struggling with their relationship with food has allowed me to develop a successful approach to help my client’s succeed with their recovery. I am a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor! What Is Intuitive Eating? Intuitive eating is an approach that teaches you how to create a healthy relationship with your food, mind, and body--where you ultimately become the expert of your own body. You learn how to distinguish between physical and emotional feelings, and gain a sense of body wisdom. It's also a process of making peace with food---so that you no longer have constant "food worry" thoughts. It's knowing that your health and your worth as a person does not change because you ate a so-called "bad" or "fattening" food."
